Top New Windows 11 Feature Protects Privacy
The new Windows 11 privacy feature helps protect your screen from prying eyes. When you work in a café or on a train, it’s easy for someone to look at your screen. That can be awkward and unsafe.
Microsoft now has a simple answer. Its new tool, Onlooker Detection, helps stop unwanted glances. As a result, you can work anywhere with greater peace of mind.
What Is the Windows 11 Privacy Feature?
This Windows 11 privacy feature, called Onlooker Detection, is built to stop unwanted attention. It detects when someone nearby looks at your screen and alerts you right away.
In addition, it builds on Presence Sensing, which already exists in Windows 11. That feature locks or dims your screen when you walk away, then wakes it again when you return. Together, they make your laptop safer and easier to use.
How the Privacy Feature Works
When Windows detects an onlooker, it can dim your screen automatically. It might also send a short message to warn you. Some laptops can even do both.
Because this process runs in the background, it doesn’t interrupt your work. Therefore, you get privacy without extra effort. With this Windows 11 privacy feature, your screen stays secure wherever you go.
Which Devices Support Onlooker Detection
Not every laptop will support this feature. It depends on a sensor called Human Presence Detection (HPD). Many new laptops already include it, especially those using Intel, AMD, or Qualcomm chips.
To find out if your device supports it, go to Settings > System > Power & battery. If presence-sensing options appear, your system is likely ready for this Windows 11 privacy feature once Microsoft rolls it out.
When Will the Windows 11 Privacy Feature Be Released?
Microsoft has not yet confirmed a final release date. However, Onlooker Detection has already appeared in recent Windows 11 preview builds. This shows that testing is well under way.
Since Microsoft focuses strongly on privacy and security, the feature is likely coming soon. Furthermore, it continues the company’s goal of making Windows 11 safe, simple, and smart.
Why Windows 11 Privacy Features Matter
Privacy is more than passwords and firewalls. It’s also about keeping your screen private. For example, if you work in public, others might see sensitive data. That could expose business details or personal information.
Fortunately, tools like Onlooker Detection can prevent that. They protect your privacy quietly while you work. Moreover, they make your device more secure without slowing you down.
Keep Your Privacy Protected in Windows 11
Microsoft’s new tools show a real focus on user protection. With Onlooker Detection, Windows 11 becomes more personal, private, and trustworthy.
